Blue Mount Public School was founded in 1995 and is governed by Blue Mount Educational Trust, of which the Chairman is social worker Adv.k Vijayan and the Managing Trustee is Mrs. Sathy Alias Latha Vijayan. Blue Mount Public School was founded in Thonnakkal, the birthplace of the great poet Kumaranasan, who challenged the conscience of an entire society bound by untouchability, inequality, and fatalism.
