About Jamyang School Leh
The concept of Jamyang Boarding School in Leh was born in 2006, following His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s concern about the limited educational opportunities available to children from Ladakh’s remote regions, particularly those belonging to the Brogpa and Dardish communities of the Aryan Valley. Initially, the plan was to establish small educational daycare centers within the villages themselves. However, due to the scarcity of suitable land and the challenges in attracting qualified teachers to such isolated areas, the idea evolved into creating a model boarding school in Leh — a place dedicated to nurturing and educating children growing up in difficult conditions across these remote communities.
