About Mahatma Gandhi University
Mahatma Gandhi University, originally established as Nalgonda University in 2007 by the Government of Andhra Pradesh under G.O. 19/HE (UE-II) and the Andhra Pradesh Universities Act, was renamed in 2008. The University was founded to promote access, equity, and inclusiveness in higher education. Its headquarters were initially located in Nalgonda town, and a permanent campus is being developed on 240 acres along the Nalgonda–Narketpally state highway at Anneparthy, 7 km from the town. The University continues to expand its infrastructure and academic programmes, reflecting the state government’s vision of providing quality higher education to a broader population in the region. 1738
