International Yoga Day 2026 Celebrated at ITM University Gwalior with the Theme "Yoga for Healthy Ageing"

ITM University Gwalior celebrated International Yoga Day 2026 with great enthusiasm at its Indoor Sports Arena, Turari Campus. The event was organised by the School of Sports Education on the theme "Yoga for Healthy Ageing", following the Common Yoga Protocol issued by the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India.

Known as one of the best university institutions in the region, ITM University Gwalior regularly organises activities that promote learning, fitness, culture, and overall well-being. The celebration of International Yoga Day reflected the university's commitment to creating a healthy and positive environment for students and staff.

A Grand Celebration at ITM University Gwalior

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Yogesh Upadhyay attended the programme as the chief guest. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members, officials, and employees of the university.

Registrar Dr. Omveer Singh, Dean Academic Dr. Ranjit Singh Tomar, Dean Academic Dr. Sonia Johri, Dean Research Dr. Pallavi Khatri, Dean SOET Prof. Mukesh Pandey, Dean Prof. Indu Majumdar, HOD Dr. Vipin Tiwari, along with members of NCC, NSS, UBA Cell, and other university departments, joined the celebration.

The programme began with a welcome address by Prof. Indu Majumdar, Dean of the School of Sports Education, who highlighted the importance of yoga in maintaining a healthy and balanced life.

Yoga: A Valuable Gift from Indian Culture

Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Yogesh Upadhyay described yoga as an invaluable heritage of Indian culture. He encouraged everyone to include yoga in their daily routine to maintain physical and mental well-being.

He also spoke about this year's theme, "Yoga for Healthy Ageing", explaining how regular yoga practice helps people remain active, healthy, and positive at every stage of life.

Students and Faculty Performed Yoga Together

The yoga session was coordinated by Purnima Chhetri, Yoga In-Charge of the School of Sports Education. The programme started with Mangalacharan and warm-up exercises, followed by various yoga asanas and pranayama practices.

Participants performed standing postures such as Tadasana, Vrikshasana, Ardhachakrasana, and Trikonasana. They also practiced seated and lying postures, including Vajrasana, Ushtrasana, Bhujangasana, Makarasana, and Pavanamuktasana.

The session concluded with Kapalabhati, Anulom Vilom, Bhramari, Sheetali Pranayama, and meditation, helping participants experience peace and relaxation.
