Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University (MJPRU) takes immense pride in educating and shaping more than half a million young minds. It stands as one of the major state universities in Uttar Pradesh, functioning with both affiliating and campus jurisdictions. As a dynamic, forty-year-old centre of higher education, the university operates under the legislative framework of the Uttar Pradesh State Government and enjoys academic autonomy through the UP Universities Act, 1973. In the broader context of Indian higher education, MJPRU represents a third-generation university—following the first and second generations established between 1857 and 1947. MJPRU has a vast territorial jurisdiction spread across nine districts of Western Uttar Pradesh, covering 31,287 square kilometres and serving a population of over 30 million (Census 2011). In terms of both area and population, the university functions on a scale comparable to entire countries. Geographically, its jurisdiction exceeds nations such as Belgium, Armenia, Lesotho, Albania, Israel, Fiji, and Kuwait, ranking it around 140 if considered a hypothetical country. Demographically, the population within its jurisdiction surpasses nearly a hundred countries, aligning with nations like Mozambique, Yemen, and Cameroon, and exceeding countries such as Australia, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, and North Korea.
