About Kerala University of Digital Sciences Innovation and Technology
India has emerged as a significant player in the global Information Technology sector, with rapid growth since the 1990s creating a high demand for skilled manpower. Recognizing this, the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) initiated a scheme to establish Indian Institutes of Information Technology across the country. Beginning with four IIITs under MHRD between 1997 and 2000, the scheme expanded to 25 IIITs on a Not-for-Profit Public Private Partnership basis. To enhance the global competitiveness of Indian industries, IIITs were also established at the state level, including in Kerala in 2000. The Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management-Kerala (IIITM-K) is an autonomous, non-profit institution under Section 8 of the Companies Act, governed by a Board of Directors comprising industrialists, academicians, and senior government officials. Visionary leaders like K P P Nambiar, F.C. Kohli, V Rajaraman, Vijay Bhatkar, and T K A Nair shaped IIITM-K to focus on innovation, entrepreneurship, industry-academia collaboration, and delivery of IT-based services in partnership with government agencies. 1653
