About National University of Advanced Legal Studies
The National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS) was established under Act 27 of 2005 of the Kerala State Legislature. Through this Act, the National Institute for Advanced Legal Studies (NIALS), founded in 2002 by the Bar Council of Kerala Trust, was merged with NUALS. An amendment in 2008 further refined the powers and functions of the University’s authorities and ensured the active participation of the Government of Kerala. NUALS is recognized by the University Grants Commission under Sections 2(f) and 12B of the UGC Act and is a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). 1707
