About Jawahar Lal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research
Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR) is an autonomous institution established in 1989 by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, to honor the birth centenary of Jawaharlal Nehru. Founded under the leadership of Prof. C. N. R. Rao, FRS, the Centre was recognized as a Deemed-to-be University by the UGC in 2002. It is currently led by President Prof. Umesh V. Waghmare, with its Governing Council chaired by Prof. V. Ramgopal Rao. JNCASR conducts cutting-edge research through specialized units focused on materials science, biology, genetics, theoretical sciences, geodynamics, neuroscience, and education technology. The International Centre for Materials Science strengthens global collaboration and interdisciplinary research. With strong academic oversight from its Council of Management and Academic Advisory Committee, the Centre offers high-quality Masters and Ph.D. programmes.
