About Jharkhand State Open University
The Jharkhand State Open University, Ranchi was established by the State Government under the Jharkhand State Open University Act, 2021 (Jharkhand Act 12, 2021). The Act was passed by the State Legislature and approved by the Governor on 2 November 2021. The university has been created to promote open and distance learning in Jharkhand, offering educational opportunities to those unable to pursue formal, regular studies. Through distance-learning methods such as print-based materials, contact programmes, study centres and mass media, the university aims to provide access to higher education for a wide population, especially disadvantaged groups in rural, remote and tribal regions. It offers degree, diploma and certificate courses, along with opportunities for research and the advancement of knowledge. 1686
