About Andhra Pradesh Fisheries University
Adikavi Nannaya University was established on April 22, 2006, through an Act of the Andhra Pradesh State Legislative Assembly to meet the higher education needs of the districts of East Godavari, Kakinada, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Konaseema, Alluri Sitharamaraju, West Godavari, and Eluru. It is a residential affiliating university with territorial jurisdiction over these six districts. The University is named in honour of Adikavi Nannaya, the first poet of Telugu literature and the 11th-century translator of the Mahabharata from Sanskrit to Telugu. As the court poet of King Rajaraja Narendra of the Eastern Chalukya dynasty, Nannaya holds a revered place in Telugu cultural history. Situated on the sacred banks of the River Godavari, the University stands as the fulfillment of the long-cherished aspirations of the people of this region to access quality higher education. 1661
