About Andhra Kesari University
Adikavi Nannaya University was established on April 22, 2006, through an Act of the Andhra Pradesh State Legislative Assembly, to meet the higher education needs of the East Godavari, Kakinada, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Konaseema, Alluri Sitharamaraju, West Godavari, and Eluru districts. It functions as a residential and affiliating university with territorial jurisdiction over these six districts. Named after Adikavi Nannaya, the earliest known poet of Telugu literature and the 11th-century translator of the Mahabharata from Sanskrit to Telugu, the University honours his profound literary contribution. Situated on the sacred banks of the River Godavari, the institution fulfils a long-cherished aspiration of the region to host a distinguished centre of higher learning. 1660
