About Dr. Y.S.Parmar University of Horticulture & Forestry
Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Solan, established on 1 December 1985, is Indias only university dedicated exclusively to education, research, and extension in Horticulture and Forestry. Named after Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar, the first Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, the university evolved from the Himachal Agricultural College (1962), later becoming part of HPU and then HPKV before attaining university status in 1985. Located at Nauni, Solan, at 1300 metres altitude, the university has four constituent colleges—two at Nauni (Horticulture and Forestry) and others at Neri (Hamirpur) and Thunag (Mandi). It also operates 5 Regional Research Stations, 12 Satellite Stations, and 5 KVKs, serving diverse horticulture and forestry zones of Himachal Pradesh. 1681
