About Himachal Pradesh University
Himachal Pradesh University was established on 22 July 1970 by an Act of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly, reflecting the aspirations of the region as it moved toward full statehood in January 1971. It is the only multi faculty residential and affiliating university in the state, offering higher education to urban, rural and tribal communities through both regular and distance modes. The University is located at Summer Hill in Shimla, spread across 241.11 bighas with scenic surroundings ideal for study and research. Its main aim is to spread knowledge and promote learning through research, training and extension activities while nurturing awareness of social, cultural and economic needs.
