About Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit
Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, named after the great philosopher Sree Sankaracharya, is headquartered at Kalady, his birthplace on the banks of the Periyar River. Established under the Sanskrit University Act of 1994, the University aims to advance studies in Sanskrit, Indology, Indian Culture, Philosophy, Languages, Fine Arts, Foreign Languages, and Social Sciences. It also promotes Sanskrit research by supporting related Indian and international languages. The University has 10 faculties, 23 departments, and 5 interdisciplinary research centres, offering 8 UG programmes, 24 PG programmes, and MPhil, PhD, and diploma courses including Ayurveda Panchakarma and International Spa Therapy. The institution celebrated its Silver Jubilee in 2018 with year-long academic and cultural events 1708
