About Academy of Maritime Education and Training

AMET, located along the scenic East Coast Road overlooking the Bay of Bengal, is India’s only university that is a member of the International Association of Maritime Universities. Started in 1993 with just 14 cadets in Marine Engineering, it has grown through consistent excellence in maritime education and training. Its strong contribution to the global shipping industry earned it Deemed-to-be University status in 2007, making it the first in India dedicated to maritime studies. Today, AMET educates over 3,500 students across Diploma to Doctoral programs through various faculties, including Maritime Studies, Engineering, Computing, Management, Commerce, Life Sciences, and Humanities. With advanced infrastructure and strong R&D facilities, AMET is ISO 9001:2015 certified by DET NORSKE VERITAS, Norway.
