About Tamil Nadu Physical Education and Sports University
The Tamil Nadu Physical Education and Sports University was established in 2004 by an Act of the Government of Tamil Nadu and is the first affiliating university in India dedicated exclusively to physical education and sports. After receiving approval from the President of India on 5 August 2005, the Act came into effect on 15 September 2005. The University began functioning in December 2005, coinciding with the United Nations’ International Year of Sport and Physical Education. Today, it comprises three faculties, five departments and 24 affiliated colleges. 1725
