About University of Ladakh
The University of Ladakh, established in 2019, is the only trans Himalayan institute for higher learning and research, with headquarters and campuses in both Leh and Kargil. It has six constituent degree colleges and offers a range of core and applied academic programs. The University provides specialized courses and research opportunities related to Himalayan, trans Himalayan and South and Central Asian regions, which are rarely available elsewhere in India. Serving students across more than fifty thousand square kilometres, it began its first academic programs in 2020 with ten master’s courses and added seven more in 2021. The University now offers PhD programs and strives to help students realize their potential, contribute to society and support regional and national development.
