About Institute of Chemical Technology
Established on October 1, 1933, as the University Department of Chemical Technology (UDCT) under the University of Bombay, the institute began with a vision to strengthen India’s capabilities in chemical sciences and technology. Over the decades, UDCT evolved into a leading center for education, research, and industry collaboration in chemical engineering, chemical technology, applied chemistry, pharmacy, biotechnology, and bioprocessing. It received partial autonomy in 1985, became the University Institute of Chemical Technology (UICT) in 2002, and attained full autonomy under the World Bank’s TEQIP in 2004. On 12 September 2008, it was granted Deemed-to-be University status by the MHRD. Since then, the institute has successfully held multiple convocations. 1457
