About Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences
Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences was founded to develop professionals and leaders of high academic calibre and strong character with a commitment to serve humanity. Established in 1986 as an engineering college, it gained autonomous status in 1999 and was declared a deemed to be university in 2004 by the UGC. Accredited by NAAC, the institute offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in engineering, biotechnology, food processing, and agricultural sciences. From 180 students at its inception, Karunya has grown to over 8400 students and 452 faculty across 18 departments. The institute focuses on teaching, research, innovation, technology transfer, community service, and value education, addressing key challenges in water, food, healthcare, and energy through scientific and technological solutions. 1543
