About Tamil Nadu Open University

Tamil Nadu Open University (TNOU) offers academic programmes recognized by UGC-DEB, NCTE, RCI and AICTE, and it holds 12B status from the UGC. The University began academic operations in 2003–04 and has expanded significantly over the past two decades. With over one million learners enrolled in 234 programmes from certificate to postgraduate levels, TNOU delivers education through 11 academic schools, 5 support divisions, a media centre and an extensive network of learner support centres and community colleges. The University introduced MPhil and PhD programmes in regular mode in 2017. It also provides skill-based training for disadvantaged groups through community colleges, offering short-term, certificate and vocational diploma programmes. 1724
